Cristy Angulo Photography is Growing!

I had been planning on buying a new camera for several months now, and as of January I knew exactly what I wanted and how I was going to get it. It took a while, but I was finally able to purchase it and it came in the mail on Saturday! Basically, if you booked a session or wedding with me between January and two weeks ago, thank you! The more business I get, not only do I get the chance to grow as a photographer, but I get the opportunity to upgrade my equipment (which in turn, helps my photography.) I had a lot of practice with my D40 and I still love it for being my first DSLR, but I am so proud to now own a professional Nikon D700. A new camera won't change my shooting style or automatically make me crazy-talented, but it will definitely take my work beyond what my D40 would let me do. This camera is more powerful and will allow me to explore so much more. I am really excited, if you can't tell! It was a scary purchase, but I don't regret it even a tiny bit. If you've really spoken to me about my ambitions in wedding and portrait photography, you may know that I can sometimes get impatient because I dream big about everything in life. But this is another step in the right direction and hard work pays off. I bought a new lens too.. it's actually the one pictured on the D700 body below. It's the 50mm f/1.4 and I love it. I just bought some CF cards for it and am ordering a new card reader today.

I just wanted to share with everybody because I'm so excited, and I really want you all to know how much your support means to me. It can seem kind of silly, but every kind word helps push me to be what I want to become. It is so easy to give up on yourself and encouragement is what we all need. I know I say it a lot, but I don't know how else to really thank everyone who keeps referring people to me, but to just keep saying it. I swear, every single comment or "like" on the Cristy Angulo Photography facebook page brings a smile to my face. Every single one. Getting a phone call or e-mail from a bride who wants a consultation is the highlight of my week! No joke. Ask Chris about how I get butterflies in my stomach about it. I really do. This is just what I love. And I know I have so much to learn. I have Nichole Chavez to thank for being so patient with me and just plain being a great friend and mentor. It sometimes feels like it's been a long journey, but it's really just the beginning.

Mia's 1st Birthday Session + Some Family Fun :)

I can't believe Baby Mia will be a year old in less than two weeks! A year flies by too quickly. Mia was my first newborn session and I lovvveee watching the slideshow that Chris and I made for her of her first week of life. Photos of her at the hospital and photos from her newborn session play along to the song, "It Won't Be Like This For Long"and it's so true! Anyway, to kick off the birthday celebration, we did a smash cake session with Mia in a turquoise tutu! But just before that, Jenn and the kids got together for some colorful, summer-y, bright and happy photos! Jenn's kids are so cute and photogenic! I always love photographing them. David is so handsome and Mia is the cutesiest little thing! These kids are so special and I couldn't help but to fall in love with them!  Here are some of my favorites so far:

I think David looks like such a little stud in this outfit, especially with the Dallas skyline right behind him.

Haha! I love this because I feel like Mia could be saying "I will not take anymore pictures!" with her little arms crossed and everything.

Happy Birthday, Baby Mia!

Albritton Family Session at SMU

I love the Albritton family. No really, I do. Because Guiselle Abritton is my boyfriend's mom. :) Since the day I met them, Lewen and Guiselle have been so kind to me. I also have to say that it's inspiring to see a couple who cherishes and adores each other as they do. They think the world of their kids and in particular, Sean is very blessed to have parents who are so adamant about giving him the culture and education that every child deserves. Sean is growing so fast. He's four now and he's a smart and charming one! When we met up for this photo session, I was surprised at how focused and well-behaved he was. Four is a tough age to get a kid to sit and stand the way you want him to and to put on a good smile at the same time, but Sean did brilliantly. He did whatever was asked of him and he was full of laughs and smiles. He is genuinely a happy boy and they're a lovely family.
