Blanca & Edwin's Day After Wedding Session on the Beach in Progreso, Mexico

I can't believe that just three days ago I was in Progreso, Yucatán photographing Blanca & Edwin's day after session on the beach. Progreso is a popular cruise port in the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico, about a 30-minute drive from the state capital, Mérida. It's where my grandparents honeymooned more than 50 years ago, and where my mom lived as a little girl.

Blanca's wedding on Saturday night was a blast! Her husband Edwin is in a band called La Carcajada and his 10+ bandmates performed at the reception until 3 in the morning. Yes, THREE in the morning, because that's how they roll. I seriously wish I could fly them up here for my own wedding. They are really good entertainers! My mom and I were super excited to get invited to their wedding. Blanca's grandfather and my grandfather are brothers, and every time we visited Mérida when I was growing up, I always used to play with Blanca, who was a little less than a year older than me. They played a slideshow of pictures of them growing up at the beginning of their reception and mannn, it really made me realize how fast those years flew by. Anyway, when we got the invitation, we worked it out so we could be there and Blanca agreed to let me take their portraits the following day. And I am so glad she did! These are just a few of the last pictures of the day on the beach and in the water. I was so excited she wanted to get in the ocean. It was completely her idea and I happily followed. There are plenty more but I just wanted to take some time to share these because I'm excited!

After we shot these and we were making our way back to the boardwalk, I realized that through second shooting and this trip, this year I've visited six different beaches! That's crazy for me, but these beach weddings and destination weddings are one of my callings! I absolutely love expanding and becoming a destination wedding photographer, so if you know anyone planning a destination wedding, feel free to pass my information along!

Here are a few favorites of these high school sweethearts who have been together for nine years! They are too presh!!!

Alyssa's Maternity Session in Rowlett by Cristy Angulo Photography

Happy Friday! I realize this sounds cheesy, but it really is beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Dallas. The leaves are falling quicker than it took them to change color, and it's creating a pretty wintery scene out there! It made for a perfect wintery backdrop for a baby due in February!

I know the temperature is lovely and moderate today, but on Monday, Alyssa and her husband Nick braved the chilly air for a maternity session outdoors. I was bundled up in layers and my fingers nearly froze, but Alyssa was radiant! I am too excited to see this family bring home baby in just a couple short months. I can't wait to photograph their teeny little one and to capture their first days as parents. Until then, let's all enjoy a sneak peek into their maternity session, shall we? :)

The Manderscheid Family's Rowlett Portrait Session

Today has been a day full of finalizing sessions, uploading sessions and getting sessions edited and ready for a blog post! I do love fall, and shooting family portraits has become one of the great things the season brings to me. Jen and Bryan decided three years ago that a family portrait session would be their annual tradition as well, and I'm so glad that they've chosen me every year since their little one was born in 2011. I love that they do this, and even this morning, I went  to take a look at some of our previous sessions together and it's so sweet to see how much Dan has grown. It's also sweet to see how his parents' love is always evident in their photos together. These are incredibly loving parents without a doubt, and he is very lucky little boy.

Here's just a quick sneak peek into their session. :)

Taylor & Brett's Mansfield Engagement Session

I remember meeting Taylor two years ago this fall at work. We were then both 22, both working the same first post-grad job, and both in a 4-year-long relationship with the men we would marry. When Taylor got engaged early this year, I was so, so excited for her! I had to run over to her desk to hear all about their sweet engagement story. (Way to go, Brett!) She had mentioned wanting to talk about wedding photography and I was super excited, and as her wedding date got closer she made an appointment for us to talk details! It turns out, our appointment was set for the morning after my own engagement and I didn't even know it! So now, we're both engaged and ready to be wed in 2015!

Taylor is my first bride since becoming a bride-to-be as well and it has been so great going through this experience as both a client and a photographer. I can definitely understand how hard it can be to make decisions regarding your wedding because you want everything to be perfect. So, when Taylor and Brett told me they for sure wanted to have me as their photographer, I was so honored.

Photographing their engagement session at their wedding venue was perrrrrfect! I loved the elegant southern charm of the property, and I'm a sucker for open fields! It is actually my number one favorite type of backdrop - open, beautiful and natural.

I can't wait to do it again on their wedding day, and I can't wait to see this beauty walk down the aisle! When you have a gorgeous couple who isn't afraid to have fun and a perfect venue? Just another reason I'm so thankful for this job. Taylor and Brett - this is just a quick preview into a few of my favorites of the day. I hope you enjoy! :)

Cristie's Fall Maternity Session in Dallas

I've been neglecting this blog a bit but I'm happy to post a sneak peek into this gorgeous lady's maternity session that we did in Dallas earlier this week. I photographed Cristie and Ryan's wedding last year, and I was happy to see their pregnancy announcement on Instagram a few months ago. Then I got super excited when she told me she wanted me to photograph her maternity session!

It's been exactly two years this weekend since we did her engagement session and guys, she is a total pro at this. I'm a super sappy person so thinking about the fact that I've photographed her engagement and wedding and now maternity is the sweetest thing. Their family is growing and it's so exciting to document these monumental times in people's lives.

I hope you enjoy these first few of my favorites, Cristie! That baby bump looks great on you!

Cynthia & Adam's Dallas Engagement Session

Cynthia and Adam are the fourth GHS high school sweetheart couple I've gotten to photograph! I'm a total romantic, so seeing couples who have grown up together is really special for me. Because that's what we've truly done - we've grown up! And for love to grow... well it's hard work, but it is sweet. :)

Cynthia and I had AP Economics together my senior year, and she's just as I remember her: smart, sweet and beautiful with a smile and laugh that I'm sure still make Adam weak in the knees. I remember seeing that they got engaged and was happy for her, and I was so honored that they contacted me to photograph their engagement session.

They had a vision of a Dallas skyline scene serving as a backdrop, so we made it happen. We met early in the morning, just as the sun was beginning to rise, and it created the most beautiful atmosphere. Later, we moved on to Reverchon Park to continue their session and I was so excited to see they wanted to incorporate Adam's love of football! We definitely had fun creating those images. I obviously loved the session, but overall, the best part about it is that they let themselves have fun too. I've got to end this post by thanking them both for letting me spend a morning with them, photographing their love.
